Marchwood military Port.

Goes off regularly at 9.30 and again at the time you noticed.
Also around at some time in the afternoon 16.30 and 16.40 I think.
Fairly sure it goes off around lunchtime as well.
Not sure what it actually for unless they have fairly short tea
breaks.

Coincidentally a mate and myself were speculating on this the other
day and one theory was that it marked the arrival and imminent
departure of the internal passenger train which takes workers and
family members from the jetties and quarters to the entrance gate.
Times are about right.

Surely not the G Harman-B famous for pumping ales, Shiedhall and
train horns fitted to Astras? Pete

Funny how the past comes back to haunt you.
last time I went to Devon I was in deep doo doo because someone
had decided 30 +years after the event to tell a near neighbor that
the reason her Ducks migrated South prematurely and permanently was
the result of a home made torpedo turning out to be a depth charge
instead and her pond was the test range.

Animal lovers note. They took off never to return. I was not trying to
Torpedo Ducks. Far too shallow draught.

ISTR that the horns came off when you invoked health and safety
legislation after getting fed up with the odd blast , or was it after
Steve ?? fell into his boot after I coasted up behind him and let
rip.
You were lucky I never found a way of concealing the Horn of a
minesweeper I have, under the bonnet.

Nice to hear from you.

Will drop you line.
